Gwadar Port to be used for wheat import in future: Finance Minister
KARACHI: Federal Minister for Finance, Ports and Shipping Naveed Qamar has said that the Gwadar Port would be used for the import of wheat in future.
While talking to the media at Karachi port, he said appropriate steps have been taken for the movement of wheat. Naveed Qamar underlined that steps were being taken to improve the system of transportation and the railways and NLC would be given priority for wheat supply. He said that the provinces should it self make arrangements for loading of wheat from the port. Replying to a question, the federal minister said that at present 1.4 million tons of wheat has arrived in Pakistan but it could not be brought in Ramazan because of time management. Naveed Qamar further said that seven ships loaded with wheat consignments while one each loaded with rice and cement consignments were present at Port Qasim. He said that there is a rush at present at Karachi Port.
