Concern at Rs 600m fraud in defence ministry

ISLAMABAD: The special committee of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has expressed its deep concern at a massive misappropriation of Rs 600 million in ministry of defence.

The committee, which was convened by Ms Yasmeen Rehman on Thursday, also took a comprehensive auditory stock of 1980-90 reports, while it also declared the progress of Defense Productions as dismayel, and gave specific orders to stop further defense deliveries from an American firm, TECHNO-WORLD, responsible for providing faulty war hardware for Siachin war theatre.

The committee also expressed its deep concerns about purchases of spares for A-53 planes, excess payments in insurance costs, and building of costly schools and universities out of defense funds.
