Lahore: Cleanliness drive in Walled City

SOLID Waste Management Department (SWM) of the City District Government Lahore (CDGL) has started a special cleanliness drive in the walled city area on Thursday.

The drive was started on the special instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and was supervised by several MPAs including Khwaja Salman Raffique.

During the drive, the SWM collected 63 tons of solid waste from Chowk Nawab Sahib, Noor Muhallah, Main Bazaar Bhatti Gate, Muhallah Islam Khan, Khajoor Wali Gali, Pir Taj Muhallah, Faisal Road, Bazaar Nolariyan, Suttar Mandi, Lohaari Muhallah, Pir Shirazi and Batti Chowk.

The operation of cleaning up of sewer lines in walled city also continued at night and SWM staff distributed plastic bags to the residents of different localities. Officials, supervising the drive, asked the people to put garbage in plastic bags instead of throwing it in sewer drains or on roads.
