Millions of children suffer from asthma symptoms in Pakistan
Out of 10 million people in Pakistan with symptoms of asthma, approximately 10-20 per cent are children where in children living with an allergy patient are more prone to suffer from asthma, Dr Mosavir Ansarie, President of the Pakistan Chest Society Sindh told participants of a media workshop.
Dr Ansarie said that environmental pollution and improper diet were major factors in contributing to asthma. However, symptoms of asthma could be controlled by appropriate treatment where in inhaled corticosteroids were the frontline treatment modality for controlling asthma. Dr Nadeem Rizvi stated that incidents of tuberculosis in Pakistan is 181 per hundred thousand where in Multi-Drug Resistant Tuberculosis, an expensive and is difficult to be treated type of TB is becoming common in our society. For prevention and control of TB Dr Rizvi suggested for appropriate screening, diagnosis, and treatment of the affected.
