Lahore: Consumer court orders generator price refund

Consumer court judge Syed Maruf Ahmed Ali on Tuesday, while accepting a complaint, directed an Engineering Equipment Company to refund the price of generator amounting Rs. 24,500 to the petitioner and Rs.5,000 as compensation.

Petitioner Abdul Hafeez Ahmed, a resident of Allama Iqbal Town, has filed a complaint for the recovery of the price of the generator. According to the complaint, the petitioner purchased a generator on August 30, 2008 from Engineering Equipment Company, 21-Nicholson Road, for Rs.24,500. He submitted that the generator did not operate on the gas from the first day. After one month the petitioner returned the generator to the respondent at his shop, but he did not refund the price of the generator.

The respondent was summoned, who contested the claim of the petitioner through his written statement. The respondent has contended that the generator had not been returned to him by the petitioner and he was not liable to refund the price of it.

After hearing the arguments of both sides, the court while accepting the petitioner complaint directed the respondent to refund the price of the generator along with costs amounting Rs.5000 to the petitioner within 10 days from the date of the order.

Show-cause for nine SHOs issued: An additional district and sessions court issued show-cause notices to SHOs of nine different police stations who were not complying with the court orders for the last few weeks.

Despite repeated court notices, these SHOs did not submitted different cases records before the court. On Tuesday, the SHOs again did not appeared before the court on which the court issued the show-cause notices to the SHO Barki, SHO Factory Area, SHO Sherakot, SHO Nasirabad, SHO Green Town, SHO Tibbi City, SHO Samanabad, SHO Hadyara and SHO Gulberg police stations.
