Lahore: Rachna Industrial park to generate 25 MW power from waste
LAHORE: Rachna Industrial Park, established on the Lahore-Sheikhupura road, will have its own five to 25-megawatt power plant which will produce low-cost electricity from waste and meet its entire energy needs.
National Industrial Parks Regional Director Mohsin Syed stated this while speaking at the launch of a project at the Royal Palm Golf & Country Club here on Thursday. A large number of industrialists and prospective buyers were present on the occasion. Mohsin said Rachna Industrial Park was based on the concept of ‘small is beautiful’, and provided an opportunity for small and medium enterprises to grow. He said the park was initially considered for auto and engineering industries but due to interest shown by other sectors, the management decided to provide an opportunity of investment to them as well which included leather, food processing and packaging. Since the industrial park would have its own waste fuel-run power station, he said, it would ensure uninterrupted power supply to all units. That would lead to an increase in production and profitability across the entire value addition chain. He said in order to create a resource of skilled manpower for the industries located in the park a technical training centre would be set up there. Earlier, the industrial park’s Chief Executive, Zubair Habib, said the company envisaged establishing industrial parks for small, medium and large enterprises in organised clusters and creating synergies, leading to a conducive business environment aimed at generating employment and expanding the industrial base of the country. It would contribute to the gross domestic product and provide opportunities of employment to the youth. “Our vision is to offer a one-window facility to the entrepreneurs to invest, establish and operate in the park in a hassle-free environment, especially with respect to utilities and support services.” He emphasised that the industrial park’s projects were specifically meant and designed for the industrialists ready to invest and expand their business development inside a secured boundary and to provide round-the-clock internal security and all amenities. He announced that another park would be launched here shortly. The park is spread over approximately 174 acres off Lahore-Sheikhupura road and will provide facilities of manufacturing, assembling, warehousing and packaging besides other auxiliary industries. It is located six km off Lahore-Sheikhupura Expressway. It is a project of the National Industrial Parks Development and Management Company (NIP), a subsidiary of the Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC), established by the Ministry of Industries and Production, to promote rapid industrialisation through development of world-class industrial parks in the country. http://www.thenews.com.pk/daily_detail.asp?id=191764 |
