‘Overseas Pakistanis to get voting rights soon’
KARACHI: Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Dr Farooq Sattar has said that the ruling coalition is in the process to see that overseas Pakistanis get the right to vote in the elections.
"An important decision will be made soon and the nation will hear good news," Sattar said while speaking at the Pakistan Foundation Day ceremony at the Pakistan International School-Aziziya in Saudi Arabia. According to the MQM media cell, Sattar said, "Pakistanis living abroad are also equal citizens and their sense of deprivation and alienation will be removed." He added that the government will provide maximum facilities to Pakistanis living abroad as they have contributed a lot in terms of foreign exchange reserves. "It is not enough to get someone punished under Article 6 of the Constitution. We demand that big loan-takers who got the loans written off during the last six years should also return that money to the national exchequer," he said and added that internal and external threats need to be countered with unity. http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp...009_pg12_8 |
