Karachi: 7,000 houses for laborers

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Labour Amir Nawab Khan told worker delegations on Tuesday that the Sindh Workers’ Welfare Board will construct 7,000 houses for homeless laborers. Rs 50,000 will be given to laborers as financial assistance for their daughters’ weddings. Stitching machines will be given to the laborers instead of bicycles so that the family women can use these machines to earn supplementary incomes and support the family. The dowry amount has been increased to Rs 50,000 and will be given for the wedding ceremony of every laborer’s daughter. Previously, the amount allocated was shared between the weddings of two daughters per worker. ppi/app
