ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) would establish multi purpose parking plazas in the in the busy shopping centers and all the major markets of the city would have separate parking places to facilitate the traders and the visitors. This was stated by the Chairman Prime Minister Task Force on Islamabad, Fasial Sakhi Butt, while inaugurating along with Chairman CDA, Engr. Farkhand Iqbal, a separate parking for the Aabpara Market adjacent to the Khayaban-e-Suharwardy here today. The Chairman Task Force said that government wants sustainable solution to the problems of the residents and traders of the capital city and all possible measures would be taken to make Islamabad model for the other cities of the country. He said that the government would specially focus on provision of specious parking along the markets, improving the sewerage, cleanliness and environment of the city. He called upon the residents of the city to fulfill their civic responsibilities by protecting the facilities especially in the form of beautiful environment and lush green parks provided by the civic agency. He said that target oriented approach would be adopted to resolve the issues of the residents on priority basis. Chairman CDA, Engr. Farkhand Iqbal said that CDA is working on a comprehensive plan to build multipurpose Parking Plazas in the busy shopping centres on public private partnership basis to over come the problems of traffic mess in the city. He said that the authority would remove the encroachments and provide parking facilities in the markets. He said that 50 year old sewerage system of the pioneer market of Islamabad Aabpara would be revamped and the issues of cleanliness, landscaping and footpaths would be resolved without delay. He said that the traders should cooperate with CDA to facilitate the visitors of the markets. The new parking facility for the Aabpara Market would cater for the needs of 400 vehicles of the traders having their business in the market and another 200 vehicles of the visitors. This parking would be linked with the market and road through an underground passage. Member Administration, Shaukat Ali Mohmond, Member Engineering, Syed Ibrar Hussain Shah, representatives of the traders including Munawar Mughal and Ajmal Baloch also spoke on the occasion. |
