Construction of commercial centres protested
RAWALPINDI: Residents of Gawalmandi have protested against the construction of shopping centres and residential flats in the area, saying that the centres will increase traffic problems. Meanwhile, the Cantonment Board has auctioned nine shops for Rs 30 million, whereas three more shops and 22 apartments would be sold out soon. Earlier, Station Commander Brigadier Zaman Nasrullah Khan Niazi had inaugurated a shopping centre. The residents have urged Prime Minster Yousaf Raza Gilani, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani to stop the construction of shopping and residential centres in the area. |
