CDA launches ‘Clean & Green Islamabad’ campaign
Islamabad—Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Syed Tahir Shahbaz has on Monday inaugurated the “Clean & Green Islamabad”, a sector wise renovation, upgradation and beautification campaign” here from Sector I-10. On this occasion chief coordinator of the campaign, Member Planning and Design, Syed Mustafain Kazmi and Focal Person of the campaign, Member Administration, Munir Ahmad Chaudhry, Member Engineering, Sanaullah Aman and officers of the formations concerned of the authority were also present. “Clean and Green Islamabad” campaign was actively participated by Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, traders welfare association, civil society, children from different schools and a large number of residents of the area.
Syed Tahir Shahbaz along with the school children inaugurated the “Clean and Green Islamabad” campaign by symbolically collecting garbage from the area. Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Chairman CDA, Syed Tahir Shahbaz said that the purpose of launching of this public participatory campaign is to keep all the sectors of the city clean and green. He said that CDA will address the common complaints and issues of the general public at their door step as it is prime responsibility of the authority. He said that “Clean & Green Islamabad Campaign” would focus on repair, maintenance, renovation, up-gradation and upkeep of all the sectors of the city without any discrimination. He urged the officers of formations concerned of the authority to play their vibrant role in order to resolve common problems of residents of the federal capital by utilizing all available resources. Chairman CDA said that he will pay surprise visits to review progress of ongoing campaign, assuring that CDA can resolve numerous issues of the public by utilizing its manpower and machinery in effective and efficient manner. He said that CDA is launching the campaign from I-Series Sector for the first time as these sectors have been neglected in the past. He said that CDA would take all measures to eradicate the encroachments with the cooperation of traders association and residents. Syed Tahir Shahbaz said that “Clean & Green Islamabad” Campaign” would focus on maintenance of pot holes, roads lane marking, provision of missing manhole covers, maintenance of footpaths, repair of choked/leaking sewerage lines, disposal of stagnant water from roads, removal of rank vegetation, cleanliness and upkeep of parks, maintenance of green belts, upkeep of kids play areas, play grounds and other sports facilities.Moreover, Roads, footpaths, leaking lines of water / sewage, street lights, median strips, green belts would be maintained in all respect. During the campaign, Badges, T-Shirts and P-Caps were distributed among the participants. While banners, pamphlets, play cards, carrying slogans of awareness were carried by school children. Chairman CDA directed Environment, Engineering and Administration Wings to ensure the attendance of the staff concerned in the area during three day activity in order to achieve the desired results from this campaign. The Chairman along with officers, officials, students, traders, and residents of Sector I-10 collected garbage in the area. |
