Karachi: City govt bans parking on main roads along signal-free corridors

City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal has directed Additional EDO Revenue Matanat Ali Khan to restrict parking on all main roads to maintain uninterrupted traffic flow at Signal-free Corridors I and II.

He called for strict action against parking vehicles adjacent to marriage halls and lawns at main thoroughfares of Sharea Faisal, North Nazimabad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal and other important thoroughfares.

Notices have been issued to managements of all marriage halls and lawns situated on Corridors I and II under the nazim’s directive to prohibit parking on main roads. In case of failure to abide by directives, the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) magistrates will take punitive action not only against hall and lawn owners but also vehicle owners.

Kamal said that the city government had constructed the signal free corridors to ensure that people could reach their destinations in minimal time durations. However, traffic flow was suffering from hindrances caused by haphazard parking on corridor roads. He said implementation of these restrictions would come into force with immediate effect.
