Lahore: Three burqa-clad men arrested near fortress stadium
LAHORE: Law enforcement agencies arrested three suspected miscreants from Fortress Stadium earlier this week, as they were men dressed in burqas, Daily Times learnt on Sunday.
After thorough interrogation, the suspects were handed over to the North Cantonment Police on Sunday. Sources said that law enforcement agencies observed three young men wearing burqas on the second day of Eidul Azha with the help of security cameras installed at the Fortress Stadium to check the movement of suspicious elements. They said that one of the alleged suspects had a moustache, which caused the law enforcement agencies to consider them as potential terror suspects. The police observed the movement of the alleged suspects for almost half an hour before arresting them. The alleged suspects pointlessly roamed around the Fortress Stadium for more than 15 minutes, after which they attempted to enter the Joyland Play Park, where the entry of males was prohibited unless families accompanied them. Sources said that law enforcement agencies held three suspected youngsters in custody, while one of their accomplices had managed to escape from the scene. After interrogation, police identified the suspects as Molvi Faheem, Liaqat and Akbar. The alleged suspects confessed to teasing girls during Eid. The police sources said that after confirmation of their addresses, and meetings with their parents, the statements of the suspects had been confirmed. North Cantonment Police Duty Officer Akmal said that they had registered a case against the young men under Section 294 of the Pakistan Penal Code. He said that the suspects would be granted bail from the courts on Monday. http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp...008_pg13_3 |
