Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh to hire Pakistani doctors as examiners

The Saudi Commission for Health Specialities (SCHS) has offered the College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) to nominate examiners for evaluating the final clinical and oral examination of health professionals in the holy land.

The nominees will evaluate the clinical and oral examination of health professionals in General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics-Gynaecology, Neurology, Dermatology, Radiology, Psychiatry, General Paediatrics, Family Medicine, Urology, Anaesthesia, ENT, Ophthalmology, Emergency Medicine and Cardiology.

Bangladesh College of Physicians & Surgeons (BCPS) has also requested the CPSP to nominate Pakistani examiners for evaluating FCPS Part-II candidates for which exams will be held in July-August 2009 in Bangladesh.

“Due to the efforts of CPSP council members and President CPSP Professor Zafarullah Chaudhry, we have succeeded in providing opportunities to senior health professionals and promoting medical training facilities for young doctors,” said CPSP (Regional Centre) Controller of Examinations and Professor of Medicine at Rawalpindi Medical College Dr Muhammad Shoaib Shafi while talking to ‘The News’ Thursday.

He said that various health institutions of international repute have acknowledged the CPSP academic training standard, and invited young Pakistani doctors to join their institutions and collaborate in medical training programmes. “Besides adequate monetary benefits, the young doctors will also get international exposure from this exchange of training and continued research programmes,” he said and added that senior Pakistani doctors have been invited for evaluation of trainees in different countries. A delegation of CPSP council members, headed by Dr Zafarullah Chaudhry, visited UK on the invitation of President Royal College of Physicians, London Professor Ian Gilmore and exchanged views with the delegates of various prestigious academic training institutions of Medicine and other specialties to identify areas of interest and mutual cooperation in medical education, training and curriculum developments, said Dr Shoaib.
