Aftab Ahmad Plaza demolition case: LHC summons PML-N MNA for ‘interfering’
* Court told MNA Saquib Nisar prevented team from taking measurements at plaza
Staff Report LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Mian Saquib Nisar on Monday ordered Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz MNA Mian Javed Latif to appear before court in person on February 19 for interfering in court proceedings regarding the Aftab Ahmed Plaza demolition case. The judge issued the order when, Noor Gujjar – a member of the judicial commission tasked with preparing a report on the plaza situated in Sheikhupura – informed the court that Latif – along with others – prevented the commission from taking measurements of the plaza on February 7 (Sunday). On January 29, the judge had constituted the judicial commission to determine whether the plaza had been legally constructed and submit a report in this regard. The judge had constituted the committee while hearing a petition moved by Aftab Aslam, the owner of the plaza. The petitioner’s counsel, Muhammad Azhar Siddique, had submitted that the Punjab Highway Department had issued a plaza demolition notice to Aftab. |
