New rules for Zakat, Ushr Dept

LAHORE

SENIOR Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa directed that working of the Zakat and Ushr Department be formulated in the light of 18th Amendment.

Previously, the powers of the department stood devolved to the provinces regarding Zakat funds earlier.

Presiding over a meeting of committee on new Zakat law in the wake of 18th Amendment held at 90 Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam, he directed the Law and Zakat and Ushr department officials that changes should also be made regarding collection of Zakat and Usher, said a handout. He said Zakat funds should be distributed transparently.

Khosa also set up a sub-committee comprising Law and Zakat and Ushr departments officials to put together proposed changes in the existing laws. The meeting was attended by MPA Rana Mohammed Afzal, Secretaries of Zakat & Ushr and Law departments besides high ranking officials.
