CM challenges Opp charge-sheet
Saturday, June 26, 2010
In response to a fact sheet presented to him by a PML-Q female parliamentarian, Samina Khawar Hayat, in the House on Friday, Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif said he would openly accept the financial appropriations and corruption of his government if the sheet was based on facts and evidence, otherwise, he reserved the right to publish a broacher, with the help of his private resources, against the pervious government. Responding to the query of PML-Q Mohsin Leghari, the CM informed the house that the government had arranged a briefing on the 18th Amendment before the cabinet. They would arrange another meeting to brief the parliamentarians as well, he added. To another query, he said he did not know if the national assembly had discussed the NFC Award, promising to take up the matter in the next session. Earlier, Law Minister Rana Sana Ullah Khan denied Opposition Leader Ch Zaheerís allegations about the governmentís proposed spending of seven million rupees for the construction of Controller’s residence in Murree. He said the scheme was reflected in the Annual Development Scheme as the Controller had sent a summary for the construction of his residence in Murree. When the matter was brought in the notice of the chief minister, he imposed province-wide ban on the new constructions. He said the government had not released a single penny for the construction of the residence. Showering praise on Shahbaz Sharif, Rana Sana said the CM have given subsidy on Sasti Roti but had not changed the worn out rugs of his office. He claimed that the chief minister had directed his parliamentarians to purchase their own air tickets if they wanted to accompany him on his official tours. He said he had had deposited five million rupees for the education of a rickshaw drivers’ son who got first position. Sana said the CM had refused to purchase bulletproof vehicles worth Rs 250 million but he had deposited Rs 1.5billion for endowment fund. Earlier, the parliamentarians from across the divide gave tough time to Zafar Iqbal Nagra, Parliamentary Secretary Housing, during question answer session. At the end, the speaker prorogued the session for indefinite time. |
