PM asks NDMA to speed up extinguising job at Lahore market
BADIN: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Monday directed the Chairman National Disaster Management Authority to rush fire extinguishing material and equipment for putting out fire at Shah Alam Market, Lahore.
In a telephonic message from Badin, the Prime Minister ordered NDMA to place all the required supplies at the disposal of the Punjab Government to help overcome the fire and save further loss of property. Meanwhile, an update on blaze says; fire that broke out around 08:00 am in a godown in a plaza in Mochi gate area has spread to 11 other plazas and hurt 22 people. According to the rescue sources, two houses have also been affected by the inferno. DCO Lahore Ahad Cheema said that fire tenders from all the towns have been sent to the spot. A portion of a plaza has collapsed injuring some people. Even after eight hours the blaze was not under control and rescue services were trying all options but to no avail. Narrow streets of the area were making the firefighting efforts difficult. |
