CDA seeks partners for LED project
Islamabad—After rejection of Light Emitting Diode (LED) project by Central Development Working Party (CDWP), Capital Development Authority (CDA) is looking for more funding partners to get approval for execution of this project.
The estimated cost of the project was Rs 5-6 billion and Asian Development Bank (ADB) committed to provide soft loan for this project. The CDWP has directed the civic authority to hold negotiations with private firms to get better bids in the regard and also contact the ADB again to exactly know the volume of the loan it can provide to the authority for modern lighting system. CDA’ LED project was introduced to lit up streets and avenues and conserve energy upto 70 per cent. CDA Spokesperson, Ramzan Sajid told, the aim of introducing energy efficient lights all over the federal capital and replacing the existing system was to save huge amount which CDA is now paying as electricity charges. He said “CDA is now paying an amount of around Rs 120 million per month on electricity bills while by introducing these energy efficient lights, the Authority would be able to save a huge amount which would be spent on other development projects,” he said. By 70 percent energy conservation, CDA can pay back the amount of soft loan in only 4-5 years, Ramzan said. After reviewing and making necessary amendments in the LED project, a summary will soon be submitted to the CDWP, he said. |
