Rawal Lake is the property of government of Punjab and the provincial government claims their territory has been exploited for business activities. Source said department of Environment, CDA gave permission, as a result of political pressure, for establishing a small kiosk at the picnic spot. However, the administration illegally spread the restaurant to an area of one acre. According to reliable sources, a politician rented this restaurant for Rs 75,000 per month. CDA officials are of the view that permit for the restaurant was issued previously but now it has been cancelled. Sources said Small Dam Organization has issued show-cause notice to the manager of the restaurant inquiring about the legal basis for carrying out commercial activities on the land beside Rawal Lake.
