Pakistan and China Set to Ink Agreement for Third-Party Involvement in CPEC
Pakistan and China Set to Ink Agreement for Third-Party Involvement in CPEC Islamabad: Pakistan and China are on the verge of finalizing an agreement that will enable the inclusion of a third party in the transformative China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects. This significant development was reported by a reliable news source on October 3, ahead of the upcoming Belt and Road Forum (BRF). According to the disclosed information, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) revealed this pivotal achievement during a recent meeting chaired by the Minister of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Sami Saeed. The meeting's primary agenda was to assess the progress made on CPEC initiatives. MOFA affirmed that discussions concerning third-party involvement in CPEC projects have been actively taking place within the framework of the Joint Working Group on International Cooperation and Coordination (JWG-ICC). This group was established by the CPEC Joint Cooperation Committee (JWG) to oversee such matters. Consistent with the mutually agreed policy between Pakistan and China, public announcements regarding third-party participation will be made only after thorough consultation and agreement between the two nations. The meeting underscored the substantial progress achieved by the JWG-ICC, formed in 2018 with the goal of fostering an international environment conducive to the advancement and promotion of CPEC.
