Destruction of schools against Shariah: Qazi
Says forcing people to have beards is not according to Sunnah
Saturday, January 31, 2009 By our correspondent LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Ameer Qazi Hussain Ahmad has said that slaughtering people and destroying girls’ schools in response to state repression is totally unjustified and such acts amount to mutilating the Shariah. Delivering the Friday sermon at Mansoorah Masjid, Qazi said the Islamic system brings blessings and not persecution since neither the followers of Islam frighten people nor masses fear Islam. He said the Islamic Shariah provides complete security to lives, property and honour of the people. He said threatening barbers and forcing people to have beards was not Sunnah since the Holy Prophet (pbuh) never punished anyone for not having a beard or observing Purdah. In fact, the Prophet (pbuh) motivated people since civilisation is promoted with encouragement, he said. He said the people of Swat say American hand and the role of government agencies could not be ruled out in the destruction of schools and deterioration of the situation. He said those opposing the government were also encouraged by people who wanted to create chaos in the country. He said the need of the hour was to raise voice against the US colonization and social evils such as injustice, corruption, vulgarity and lawlessness. He said bombs and missiles used by US planes to kill tribal people were being supplied by our own government. He said rulers had plundered public wealth and amassed it in huge palaces in and outside the country. Our rulers were agents of the enemies of Islam and it was because of them our independence was usurped. He said a collective struggle was needed to rid the country of the enemy agents and realise real independence. Meanwhile, delivering Friday sermon at Maududi Institute, JI Naib Ameer Hafiz Idris said moral superiority of Muslims was their real power since Islam was spread across the world only because of their character, morals and honesty. He said corrupt and characterless Muslim rulers were the real cause of the Ummah’s problems since they feel proud in enemy’s slavery and kill their own Muslim brothers for the sake of enemies. http://www.thenews.com.pk/daily_detail.asp?id=159927 |
