Disbursement of $840m IMF tranche by month-end

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is likely to get second tranche of $840 million from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) by the end of this month, official sources said. The International Monetary Fund, under Standby Arrangements, had approved $7.6 billion to Pakistan out of which the first tranche of $ 3.1 billion was received in Nov, 2008. Following the successful quarterly review meetings held in Dubai recently, Pakistan would get $840 million by end of March, sources said, adding the review meeting had appreciated Pakistan’s home-grown economic stabilisation policies.
