Lahore: Consumer Court directive to refund defective refrigerator price

CONSUMER Court judge Syed Maruf Ahmed Ali on Monday, while accepting a complaint, directed the Samsung Digital Plaza, College Road, to refund the refrigerator price Rs. 69000 to the petitioner along with the cost amounting Rs.3000.

Petitioner Mian Tayyab Anjum has filed a suit in consumer court that he had purchased a brand new Refrigerator on March 03, 2008 from Samsung Digital Plaza for an amount of Rs.69000.

But after some days of purchasing the refrigerator, he found that the refrigerator was not functioning properly and he lodged a complaint with the respondent but no one appeared to repair the refrigerator.

The petitioner further submitted that the refrigerator was not working properly from the very first day and respondent did not tell him that the said refrigerator was No Frost Refrigerator which was not compatible for the environment of our country. This fact was not disclosed by the respondent at the time of its sale.

The counsel for the respondent has contended that they are ready to repair the refrigerator. After hearing the arguments of both sides, the court, while accepting the petitioner’s complaint, directed the respondent to refund the price of the refrigerator to the petitioner along with the cost amounting Rs.3000 within 10 days from the date of this order.
