Rawalpindi: Body formed to look after Pindi parks
RAWALPINDI: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has approved establishment of Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) that will look after parks of the city. Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Monitoring Cell Chairman, also Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) local leader, Sardar Muhammad Naseem said this on Friday while talking to reporters. He said the CM had also directed the RDA director general to chalk out a comprehensive plan to implement the PHA. The PHA, akin to Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), will be a subordinate organisation of the RDA, he said, adding, the horticulture authority would generate funds on its own and spend them on the development of parks. He said now the PHA would be responsible for the maintenance of parks, which were being looked after by Town Municipal Administration (TMA) and the RDA. Naseem said the PHA was established to make Rawalpindi clean and beautiful like Islamabad, so that the citizens could spend their leisure time by enjoying natural beauty. He said the CM was taking keen interest in the city development.
