Asif's Libya visit to revive economy
Associated Press of Pakistan TRIPOLI: President Asif Ali Zardari's visit to Libya will boost Pakistan's manpower export and strengthen economic ties, Pakistan's ambassador to Libya Jamil Ahmad Khan said Wednesday. "Pakistan and Libya have been close to each other in diverse fields in the past, and President Zardari's visit would expand these ties in new areas," ambassador Jamil Khan said here in an interview with journalists. He said the visit will fill the vacuum created between the two countries during dictatorship era, and hoped that Libya would once again prove to be a good market for Pakistani manpower. He said the president will meet Libyan leader Muammar Al Qaddafi while the Libyan Prime Minister, Speaker of Parliament and several Ministers, including Foreign, Defense and Economic Ministers will call on him. The president will also interact with representatives of Libyan business community and media besides meeting members of Pakistan community in Libya. The ambassador said Libyan government had also expressed desire to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. "It is expected that the brotherly relations would attain the same status as these had been in late 70s when more than 150,000 Pakistanis served in different capacities in the Libya," he said. The ambassador said during President Zardari's visit to north-African country, seven Memoranda of Understanding are expected to be signed.
