Rawalpindi: DHQ Hospital expansion on the cards
RAWALPINDI: The District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital will soon be expanded, said the Punjab Chief Minister’s Health Monitoring Team on Wednesday. During a surprise visit to the hospital, the team consisting of MNA Malik Abrar and MPAs Sarfraz Afzal and Sheharyar Riaz learned about shortage of beds, especially for women and children. The team said the provincial government would soon expand the DHQ hospital so that more and more indoor patients could be offered beds. It also announced establishment of a separate children ward and burns unit on the site of Rose Cinema. The team reprimanded sanitation staff for lack of cleanliness and foul smell in the corridors. It recommended action against those overcharging patients for CT Scan test. The team also took notice of non-issuance of free medicines to patients and directed dispensary staff for corrective measures. Patients complained the blood bank denied them bags of white and red cells during emergency. The team warned the staff concerned of suspension if complaints weren’t addressed at the earliest. staff report
