Dollar under pressure on ratings concerns

LONDON: The dollar fell on Friday, hitting its lowest in five months against a basket of currencies. By 1204 GMT, the dollar index, a gauge of its value against six major currencies, was down 0.4 percent on the day at 80.147 after hitting 80.088, a fresh 2009 low. The euro was up 0.5 percent at $1.3971. Sterling was up 0.2 percent at $1.5882, after rising as high as $1.5898, its strongest since early November. reuters
