Islamabad: CDA budget 2009-10: Minimum allocations for new projects likely
By Fazal Sher
ISLAMABAD: The cash-starved Capital Development Authority (CDA) is likely to make minimum allocations for new projects and allocate funds only for its ongoing project in the next budget, an official told Daily Times on Friday. Due to shortage of funds, the CDA high-ups have verbally informed the heads of different directorates that funds would be allocated only for ongoing projects and a few new projects would be launched in the next financial year, said the official. He said CDA Works Directorate had sent projects worth billion of rupees for the next year budget, but the Finance Wing has told it that they would only allocate funds for the ongoing projects. The Finance Wing has also informed different directorates that only those projects would be included in the next year budget, which could be completed, he said. The official said earlier CDA high-ups had planned that they would announce a huge budget for the next year but after poor response of investors in auction of plots they decided not to launch or launch only a small number of new projects. “No meeting of CDA Development Working Party has taken place since last one year to approve the PC-1 of different projects,” he said. The official said CDA was likely to make huge allocation for development of new sectors as number of allottees had filed complaints against the civic body with the federal ombudsman. “Due to shortage funds the CDA has so failed to start work on several projects which they had announced in the current year budget,” he said. http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp...009_pg11_1 ============================================ CDA to present Rs 28 billion budget ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) will present Rs 28 billion budget for fiscal year 2009-10 as the process of budget preparation is in the last stages. Sources said on Friday the civic body would also auction plots on May 29-30 through open bidding to overcome budget deficits. In the new budget, they said the CDA would include Rs 6 billion, which was not utilised in the previous budget, adding the authority would earn millions of rupees from collecting of taxes and property transfer fees. The sources said CDA member (finance) had sought details of projects from all departments and after their evaluation, the budget would be sent to the Cabinet Division for approval before its formal announcement. The auction of residential plots in Sectors D-12, G-10 and I-16 and commercial plots in Sectors F-11, G-9, G-11 and I-8 would be held at Aabpara Community Centre. online http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp...009_pg11_2 |
