Patwari held for amassing wealth beyond means

RAWALPINDI: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Crime Circle, has arrested a patwari on the charges of possessing over Rs 30 million cash in two accounts, other cash in foreign accounts, over 91-kanal land and two luxurious houses, the FIA sources told Daily Times on Saturday.
They said the agency received a tip-off that Manzoor Ahmed, a BPS-5 patwari of Sihala, had accumulated over Rs 30 million cash in two accounts in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
They said the patwari was also suspected of transferring about 91-kanal land, present in Siray Kharboza near Tarnol, to his driver Muhammad Javed. They said Ahmed also owned two luxurious houses in Dhoke Lalial and some foreign accounts.
The sources said an FIA team in response to the tip-off arrested the patwari on Friday night from an Al-Mustafa Tower flat in G-8/3. They said the accused would be presented before a local court, as he had been booked.
