Pakistan Railway goes ‘tobacco-free’
LAHORE: After Pakistan International Airlines, the Pakistan Railways became the second tobacco-free public transport organisation on Monday when it declared smoking an offence in all trains, stations and places used by passengers.
Posters and banners describing health risks of smoking are displayed at all stations, booking offices and other railway installations, says an announcement of Pakistan Railways. Heavy penalties will be awarded to the violators, the announcement adds. TOLL-FREE PLAINT NO: The Pakistan Railways has set up a complaint cell at the central control office at its headquarters in Lahore. Passengers can now lodge their complaints regarding late arrivals or departures of trains and air-conditioner failures at the toll-free number 0800-12309 round the clock. The complaints would also be forwarded to the additional general manager concerned in order to expedite the process for their early redressal. http://www.dawn.com/wps/wcm/connect/dawn...free-hs-12 |
