Islamabad: Anti-encroachment drive from next week

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Amer Ali Ahmed held a meeting with the representatives of trader community of G-9 Markaz and other markets and discussed removal of encroachments from the capital markets.

It was decided in the meeting that Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration will launch anti-encroachment drive in Islamabad to remove encroachments from markets. The campaign will start from next week with the full support of the trader community and Capital Development Authority (CDA).

The traders assured the ICT administration that they would extend full cooperation to it in the removal of encroachments.

The DC said it was civic responsibility of everyone concerned to keep the city free from encroachments and the administration will ensure removal of encroachments.

Fruit and Vegetable Market: Meanwhile, ICT Assistant Commissioner (Saddar) Capt ® Faridud Din Mustafa visited Fruit and Vegetable Market I-11 and met with the trader associations of the market. He listened to their problems including issues of encroachments in the area.

Mustafa assured the traders that all their problems will be resolved on priority and ICT administration would soon launch a grand anti-encroachment operation in the area.

All encroachments on the roads will be removed for ensuring smooth flow of traffic in the market.

He also constituted a committee comprising ICT administration officials and trader representatives for resolving the market issues.

Registration: It was decided that a list of all vendors including the labourers working in the area would be prepared for their registering and issuing them cards.

They will be allotted separate space for running their business to clear the area clean from encroachments.

Horse carts’ entry banned: It was also decided that in future the entry of donkey and horse carts to the market would not be allowed and construction of remaining portion of boundary wall will also be started soon to further strengthen the security of the market.

It was also decided to earmark separate place for the goods and transport companies to streamline the traffic in the Market as per CDA rules. app
