Saudis see investment potential in Pakistan
This was stated by Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Pakistan Abdul Aziz Bin Ibrahim Bin Saleh Al-Ghadeer, while exchanging views with a delegation of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) that called on him.
He said the close geographical proximity, historic trade ties, religious affinity and the complementary nature of economic needs have created a strong bondage of trust between the two countries. The ambassador said Saudi investors considered Pakistan as a potential investment destination with particular interest in agriculture and petroleum sectors. He highlighted the boom in development in Saudi Arabia, which will continue for the next few years and will provide good opportunities in industrial projects for Pakistani businessmen and manpower alike. Speaking on the occasion, ICCI president Mian Shaukat Masud said many sectors of Pakistan’s economy like energy, oil and gas, infrastructure development, minerals, agriculture offer plenty of investment opportunities to Saudi investors, who should explore these areas for enhancing their investment and business interests in Pakistan. He said Saudi investors should have no security concerns and they could start joint ventures in Pakistan without any fear as Pakistanis have special love and regard for Saudi Arabia and its nationals. The ICCI chief said that though Pak-Saudi annual bilateral trade had crossed $4 billion it is still much below the trade potential exist between the two countries. Mian Akram Farid, FPCCI office chief in Islamabad said that the enhanced direct interaction between businessmen of two countries could be the best option for increasing bilateral trade.—APP http://www.dawn.com/wps/wcm/connect/dawn...n---il--01 |
