Professional assassin reveals story of trans-continental crimes
By Salis bin Perwaiz
Karachi
A ruthless professional assassin, Sultan Ahmed, who is notorious as Chief, revealed many secrets about the world of crime, specially in Karachi but also elsewhere in a police investigation.

Ahmed, who had been involved in a number of murder cases of businessmen and industrialists in the city, had been arrested by The Special Investigation Unit of the Karachi police.

During investigation, Ahmed claimed that an international mafia from South Africa was very active in the city. He confessed that on the directives of this international mafia, other professional assassins and himself had killed many businessmen and industrialist in Karachi for monetary gains in the past few years.

Ahmed narrated that he was born in 1969 in Bahalwalpur, a district of Punjab. A few years later, his family shifted to Karachi and settled in Federal ‘B’ Area. Though Sultan managed to pass his matriculations and worked as a laboratory technician in a memorial laboratory for more than five years, it was his stay in jail in 1994 for a minor case that changed life radically for him.

He was arrested by Bahadurabad police, and was imprisoned for a year, after which he got bailed out. During his stay in jail, he came across Ibrahim alias Daada, a powerful gangster. Two years after being released, Sultan met Daada in 1997, who sent him to South Africa.

Ahmed became involved with Daada’s gang in South Africa for more than seven years, before returning to Karachi in 2004. In 2006, he was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) while he was trying to flee to South Africa. He was, however, successfully bailed out after one-and-a-half years. From there on, he received directions from Daada to operate in Karachi.

During the course of investigation, Chief also revealed that in South Africa, he met with Manzar Abbas, who himself operates an underworld gang there. Ahmed revealed that he worked in Karachi on the directives of Manzar Abbas, and whatever orders were issued to him from South Africa, he would go through with them, and after killing the target, payment would be deposited in his bank account.

Regarding his criminal history, Chief said that in 2001, Daada told him to kill an African who was coming to South Africa from Zimbabwe, upon which his accomplice kidnapped the person from Airport and killed him. He said he was paid Rs 500,000 for the job.

After that Sultan continued his job as a professional assassin. In 2002, he killed Arshad in South Africa on the orders of another underworld don Ibrahim alias Bhoolo, and charged Rs0.5 million for the job. In 2002, once again Bhoolo paid him Rs500,000 for the killing of a person in Durban.

In 2003, he killed Nabil in South Africa, while in 2004, on the orders of Manzar Abbas, he killed Shahzad Carpetwala near Hotel Metropole, Karachi. In the same year he was directed to kill Abbas Mikeri. Ahmed targeted him at Tariq Road, but Mikery did not die and only got injured; regardless, Ahmed was paid Rs150,000 for the job.

Other crimes Ahmed confessed to included those that he committed in 2005. He said that he killed Sheraz in Azizabad police limits, and also murdered Mehboob near NIPA Chowrangi, again on the directives of Don Abbas. He was paid a handsome amount as reward for fulfilling all these tasks.

Chief further disclosed that most of Manzar Abbas’ gang members are youngsters belonging to either Karachi or Punjab, who kill persons in Karachi and Lahore on the directives of Abbas, and after committing the offence, flee to South Africa.
