Rawalpindi: Chaklala Cant. Board takes action against corrupt officials
Saeed Ahmed
The Chaklala Cantonment Board (CCB) has taken strict action against its staff members involved in corruption and irregularities in their respective sections. CCB Chief Executive Officer Khursheed Ali told ‘The News’ that the step has been taken to weed out corruption from the department. He said that action was taken against CCB (water bowsers) Section In-charge Tariq for supplying water through tankers at higher rates on complaints lodged by residents of Chaklala Cantonment. He said that an inquiry was conducted against Tariq and he was found guilty. Therefore he was removed from service. According to him, complaints were also lodged against CCB Building Inspector Ehsan for charging high fees and receiving gratification. “Ehsan has been demoted as a gardener. He has also been declared incompetent for any responsible post in future,” he added. Khursheed Ali said that complaints were also received against the in-charge of the Anti-Encroachment Cell. He had been directed time and again to remove encroachments from Dheri Hassanabad, Tariqabad, Chungi No. 22, Dhoke Syedan and other localities, but his performance was below par. The CCB CEO said that the Anti-Encroachment Cell in-charge was recently directed to launch an operation against cattle owners, who have shifted their animals to urban areas from rural areas. Khursheed Ali said that orders to this effect were issued a month ago, but he failed to comply. He has been transferred to another department in lower cadre. The CCB CEO urged the residents to lodge their complaints regarding poor performance of CCB staff with him and he would take action against them. http://www.thenews.com.pk/daily_detail.asp?id=197510 |
