Karachi: First-ever scarless surgery performed at ZHU hospital

KARACHI: The first ‘scarless’ surgery in Pakistan has recently been performed at Dr Ziauddin Hospital (ZHU) to remove the gallbladder of a woman diagnosed with gallstones.

Dr Haris Rashid, Consultant Laparoscopic Surgeon at the hospital performed the surgery. Scarless surgery is a latest revolutionary technique known as single incision laparoscopic ‘key-hole’ surgery, which allows for minimally invasive surgical access to internal organs through a single incision in the belly button that leaves no visible traces of a scar. ZHU is the first hospital in Pakistan to introduce ‘scarless’ surgery on special interest of its Chairman, Dr Asim Hussain in technology. “I am extremely grateful to Dr Hussain and to our surgical team for their help and support in introducing ‘scarless’ surgery in Pakistan”, said Dr Rashid. He said that it is a patient-friendly procedure that has a lower risk of infection, less pain and takes considerably less healing time as there is only one scar hidden in the belly button. app
