Islamabad: Water supply scheme launched in Humak
The Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Imtiaz Inayat Elahi, on Monday inaugurated a water supply scheme completed with a total cost of Rs37.136 million to improve water supply situation in Model Village Humak.

The scheme includes sinking of seven tube-wells, a newly laid water supply network at a total cost of Rs23.726 million, the construction of underground and overhead water tanks with capacities of 200,000 gallons and 100,000 gallons respectively at a total cost of Rs13.136 million.

Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi also announced installation of a water filtration plant in Model Village Humak to ensure provision of safe drinking water to the residents.

In the past water to Humak Zamni, Sharqi and Gharbi was being supplied with ‘stand post’ system. Now with the laying of new water supply network the inhabitants of Model Village Humak will be able to have their individual water connections at their homes.

“With the inception of the water supply improvement scheme, door-to-door network of water supply has been laid down in the village. The over-head and under-ground water tanks have been provided to help pumping supply of water to all the residents of the village and adjacent areas,” the chairman was informed by the concerned officials at the inaugural ceremony of the scheme.

The chairman also promised that all the basic facilities would also be provided to the inhabitants of Model Village Humak, one of the oldest ‘Model Villages’ that were established on the periphery of the federal capital back in late 1970s.

These ‘Model Villages’ were earlier kept outside the ‘Municipal Limits’ of the federal capital but about a decade or so ago these were also included within the ‘Municipal Limits’ and almost all the basic amenities were made available to the residents of these ‘Model Villages’, the status of some of which has already been alleviated from ‘Model Villages’ to ‘Towns’!

“The attention paid by the successive regimes to some developed sectors only in the past created an imbalance in the development activities and provision of basic civic amenities and facilities between the inhabitants of other areas of the federal capital. To overcome this disparity among the different sectors, the CDA is now giving special attention to improving infrastructure and provision of basic facilities in the neglected sectors,” Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi said on the occasion.

He also said that a ‘Complaint Office’ would be set in Model Village Humak to address day-to-day issues and problems faced by the residents. At the same time the chairman warned that the authority would not tolerate any encroachment(s) or ‘qabza’ and strict action would be taken against those who would be found on fault after a thorough inquiry in such matters was completed.
