Three guards bludgeoned to death * Police clueless * DHA security chief says increased road patrols to curb crime By Shahnawaz Khan LAHORE: Unidentified assailant(s) smashed the heads of three security guards in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) on Monday. One of them succumbed to his injuries while the other two are stated to be in critical condition. All three victims were more than half a kilometre away from each other. The police have not yet been able to find any clue about the assailant(s). DHA Police duty officer said residents of 175-XX, DHA, informed the police that some unidentified assailant(s) had clubbed their private guard, Muhammad Azam, while he was sleeping in their garage. They rushed him to Lahore General Hospital (LGH). After a few minutes, residents of 31-XX DHA (about a half kilometre away from 175-XX) informed the police that unidentified assailant(s) had smashed the head of their guard, Muhammad Bilal, who was sleeping in the garage. They said they had also rushed him to the LGH. A police team reached the scene and was investigating the matter when residents of 396-XX, DHA, informed the police helpline that unidentified assailant(s) had smashed the head of their guard, Abid Khan, who was sleeping in the garage. They also said they had taken him to the LGH. DHA Police Inspector Javed Iqbal said, “There are no witnesses of the incidents. There are a few similarities in all incidents, including that all three were guards and were sleeping in garages.” He said, “The police have not found any weapon from the scenes. We believe that the assailant(s) came on a car, smashed the heads and fled.” Defence Security Force (DSF) incharge Major ® Shabbir said, “Only one incident has taken place, at 175-XX.
