LDA officials to speed up demolition drive
Monday, December 14, 2009
By By Our Correspondent LAHORE IN order to intensify the ongoing drive against illegal constructions of high-rises in the provincial capital, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has redistributed responsibilities among officers in order to achieve demolition targets within the shortest possible time. Presently, LDA demolition teams are busy in razing seven multi storey plazas in various city areas including Ahad Towers, Rabi Centre, Jeff Heights, Big City and ArRehman Medical Complex. Sources in the LDA said that for the first phase, LDA officials had chalked out demolition of some 21 high rises and next target of the LDA are two high rises located on Model Town Link Road. Meanwhile, the LDA had also invited applications from private companies so that they would be engaged in demolition process because the LDA has no such capability to expand demolition action. A press statement issued by the LDA said that Senior Enforcement Officer Adnan Shehzad (BPS-17) has been relieved of the additional charge of the post of director enforcement with a view to enable him to personally supervise the performance of demolition staff working in the city. Ahmad Mumtaz Ali Khan, Director Estate Management II, has been posted as director enforcement LDA and directed to perform additional responsibilities as director estate management II, until further orders. On joining LDA on deputation basis, Naveed Warriach, an officer of the Punjab Population Welfare department, has been posted as deputy director in the Estate Management Directorate of LDA. |
