Army Welfare Trust, ministry of privatization to resolve issues

ISLAMABAD: The Army Welfare Trust and the Ministry of Privatisation have reached an understanding to resolve their issues pending for more than two decades in an amicable manner, said a statement issued the other day.

The Army Welfare Trust (AWT) Managing Director Lt General (retd) Imtiaz Hussain during a meeting with Senator Waqar Ahmed Khan Federal Minister for Privatisation said that the Trust was interested in the privatisation program on the basis of public-private partnership.

Hussain said that AWT is one of Pakistan’s biggest business groups.

Senator Waqar said privatisation process was being carried forward in an open, fair and transparent manner while providing a level playing field to domestic and foreign investment groups.

He further stated that currently the government was passing through the process of restructuring eight major entities for improving their efficiency and to get maximum output to add value to these national assets prior to taking them to the market. Shahab Khawaja Federal Secretary Ministry of Privatisation was also present during the meeting.
