Rs 4bn set aside for Lahore Ring Road
LAHORE: The Punjab government has allocated Rs 4 billion for the Lahore Ring Road Project in the annual budget 2010-11.
According to budget docements, Rs 2,875 million will be spent on the ongoing schemes of LRR project, while Rs 1,125 million would be spent for new schemes. The government estimated the 100 percent completion of LRR first phase (North Loop) consisted of over 43 KM road including nine interchanges during the fiscal year 2010-11. The second phase (South Loop) would also be started in the coming fiscal year that would traverse a new corridor about 49 kilometre linking Ferozepur Road Interchange to Shahpur Interchange and finally connecting to the northern arc via Saggian Interchange for completing the peripheral loop. The detailed feasibility and engineering design for the Southern Loop of LRR would be finalised during 2010-11. Under the new schemes, Rs 200 million have been allocated for widening/improvement of road from Rehman Villas to Bhatta Chowk, Rs 150 million for intelligence system along LRR, Rs 100 million for fencing of LRR in congested urban areas, Rs 675 million for land acquisition for widening of Ghazi Road. app |
