Imran stresses joint efforts in flood relief activities
ISLAMABAD: Imran Khan, Chairman Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) has said that all political parties, business community and NGOs should put behind all the conflicts and step forward to cooperate with the government as the country desperately needs joint efforts for flood relief activities. He said while addressing the members of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) here on Thursday. Imran said that we have set up a board to start rehabilitation work in flood affected areas. Representatives of different local and international NGOs and philanthropists are the members of this committee, he added. “We are making a plan to start rehabilitation work systematically in some worst flood hit areas where the affected people would be assisted economically and strategically as they would be educated that how they can start a new life and become independent as soon as possible”, he said adding that the successful assistance in these areas would be a role model for the other organizations who can also make successful stories in the flood hit areas by following them. Imran Khan said that the recent floods have wrecked the whole infrastructure and it will have long term devastating effects in the flood affected areas. He said that immediately, seeds for wheat crop cultivation would be urgently needed and the government should make special measures to provide seeds and cultivation machinery to the farmers in order to avoid draught like situation. Earlier Zahid Maqbool, President ICCI in his welcome address to Imran Khan paid thankful remarks for his visit to the chamber house.
