All parties to rally for Kashmiris
LAHORE - All segments of the society including political and religious parties have completed preparations across the country and AJK to observe “Kashmir Solidarity Day” today (Saturday) to reiterate full solidarity with the people of Indian-occupied Kashmir in their just and principled struggle for freedom from unlawful Indian subjugation and to reach to the ultimate destination of achieving right to self determination.
It is to mention that Kashmir Solidarity Day is observed on February 5 each year since 1990, as a day of protest against Indian occupation of Held Kashmir and to apprise the world about India’s indifferent attitude regarding United Nations resolutions relating to Held Valley’s status. The Day will also be observed in Europe, United States, Canada, Middle East and Africa, as a large number of Pakistanis and Kashmiris live in these continents will organise various programmes to express solidarity with their Kashmiri people. Political, religious parties, non-governmental organisations, students, labour organisations, legal fraternity and youth in Pakistan and Azad Jammu Kashmir have made arrangements to hold rallies, public meetings, seminars and walks to express solidarity with the Kashmiris as well as to apprise the international community the atrocities of Indian security forces on unarmed Kashmiris in the Held Valley and to press the world powers to influence New Delhi for implementing the United Nations resolutions in Occupied Kashmir, as Kashmiris did not want to live with India. Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami will hold rallies across the country on the Day, while the party leadership will also present a memorandum to the UN representative in Islamabad attracting its attention towards non-implementation of its resolutions on Kashmir. The JI chief, Syed Munawar Hasan will lead the rally in Islamabad, which will be held at the Aabpara Chowk. In provincial capital, JI will take out a rally from Nasir Bagh that ends at the Assembly Hall, while former JI chief Qazi Husain Ahmed and JI secretary general Liaquat Baloch will lead it. The JI Punjab chief, Dr Waeem Akhtar will lead the rally at Bahawalpur, while Dr Farid Ahmed Piracha will lead the rally at Faisalabad. |
