Labour colony to have modern facilities
Lahore—Provincial Minister for Labour Haji Ehsaan-ud-Din Qureshi has said that Punjab government is implementing various projects for providing modern education to the children of labourers and residential facilities to them. He said that a labour colony consisting of 1296 houses at a cost of Rs. 2177 million is being constructed for workers on defence road Lahore.
While talking to delegations of labourers, Haji Ehsaan-ud-Din Qureshi said that all basic and modern residential facilities will be available to the workers in defence labour colony and workers welfare schools will be set up for the children of workers. He said that free education including books, stationery, transport and uniform are also being provided to 28 thousand children of workers in 46 workers welfare schools of the province. He said that Welfare Board is bearing all educational expenses of the children of workers in those six districts of the Punjab where workers welfare schools are not existed. He said that second shift is also continuing in seven workers welfare schools. Haji Ehsaan-ud-Din Qureshi told that the main objective of the labour department is to provide free of cost comprehensive healthcare facilities to the workers and their family members adding during the last financial years more than 6,005,265 workers were provided healthcare facilities at a cost of 3,387 million rupees. He said that two medical colleges each at Lahore and Faisalabad would be launched by the labour department to make up shortage of doctors and for the provision of standardized facilities to the masses. |
