Ichra flyover to be completed by end of March
Lahore—The Construction of Ichra-Muslim Town Flyover at Ferozepur Road from WAPDA Hospital to Gaddafi Stadium would be completed by the end of March.
Communication and Works department Project Director Sabir Khan told media persons here Tuesday that the construction was in full swing on day and night basis and there was no shortage of funds from the government. He added that matters related to the land acquisition, shifting of infrastructure and other litigations were resolved. He said, it would take more time and cost than the Kalma Chowk Flyover which had been constructed in record 135 days with 660 metres length and Rs 2.3 billions cost. Sabir Khan said that the estimated cost of Muslim Town Flyover was Rs 3.5 billions and it would be more than 200 percent larger than Kalma Chowk project. Referring the design of the flyover, he said that it would be started from Police Workshop/Pakistan Industrial Technical Assistance Centre (PITAC) Ferozepur Road and ended in front of WAPDA Hospital. One of the two main limbs of the bridge would be of 1.1 Kilometre and the other of 0.95 Km besides a 350 metres long branch lane from Kalma Chowk side which would be dropped at Wahdat Road intersection. Apparently, it was a mega project needed a period of more than nine months to complete but the Chief Minister Muhammed Shahbaz Sharif has given the task to complete it within six months by utilizing the maximum resources and same technique as was used in Kalma Chowk project. The project Director said that to save the existing infrastructure of Canal Under Pass, water supply ,sewerage and electrification, the engineers were moving carefully on the site. We are confident to complete the project within the stipulated time and it would be opened for people by end of March, he said. |
