Islamabad: Work on Zero Point Interchange project in full swing
ISLAMABAD: Work on the construction of Rs 2.35 billion Zero Point Interchange is in full swing that will be completed in two years. An official of Capital Development Authority (CDA) said that flow of traffic on the roads adjacent to the project site would not be hampered during first phase of project that would be accomplished in six months. He said the firm had established its office near Zero Point in the second week of August. The CDA and Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) have finalised a traffic diversion plan that will be implemented after six or nine months of the project’s commencement, he said. Under the plan, the official said, traffic coming from Rawalpindi to Islamabad, will be diverted to Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Road, Ninth Avenue, Garden Avenue and Kashmir Highway. “An alternative traffic plan has been devised keeping in view the fact that most of the traffic heads towards Pak Secretariat, Constitution Avenue and Blue Area,” an official of the CDA Planning Wing said. He said the ITP would have to work extra to maintain traffic flow till completion of the project. He said slip roads would be constructed during the first phase of the project. online
