Zardari confers ‘Hilal-e-Pakistan’ awards to US senators Joe Biden, Richard Lugar

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari announced on Tuesday government awards for United States Democratic vice-presidential nominee Joe Biden and Republican Senator Richard Lugar. Biden and Lugar introduced in July a bipartisan US aid plan that calls for $1.5 billion per year in non-military spending to support economic development in Pakistan. Zardari awarded them the ‘Hilal-e-Pakistan’ (Crescent of Pakistan) “in recognition of their consistent support for Pakistan”, a government statement said. reuters
