‘Bush should be tried as war criminal’

The outgoing US president, George Bush, should be tried in the court of law as a war criminal for his tyrannical policies and Hussain Haroon should be stopped from representing Pakistan at the United Nations. This was resolved at an All-Parties Conference (APC) organised Tuesday by the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) at the Idara Noor-e-Haq. The topic of the APC, chaired by JI Naib-Ameer Prof. Ghafoor Ahmed, was ‘Bombay attacks – dangers for Pakistan and steps’.

Participants also resolved that the Pakistan government should take notice of Indian aggression and take steps to unite the people of the country. They also demanded that retaliatory action be taken against the Indian government.

Speakers were critical of the Indian government for its blame game against Paksitan without any proof and investigation. They strongly condemned the Indian government for making allegations against its neighbour, adding that even after the passage of two weeks, the Indian government failed to provide a single shred of evidence against Pakistan.

They criticised the Pakistan government for its overly conciliatory attitude, especially President Zardari’s statement in which he had categorically stated that the intrusion by the Indian planes was because of a technical error.

The speakers also showed great concern over imposing a ban on “patriotic organisations” and demanded that the government immediately lift the ban on them. They urged India to not create war hysteria and desist from destablising Pakistan.

Both nuclear powers could not afford the use of nukes , speakers said. They demanded that tension between the two countries be eased by holding a composite dialogue. They added, however, that if war was thrust upon Pakistan, the entire nation would be united under its armed forces and would defend every inch of the country.
