Karachi: Gulshan-e-Iqbal town to spend Rs 858 million on development
KARACHI: Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town Nazim Wasay Jalil said on Wednesday that Rs 858.3 million will be spent on the development works, as allocated in the budget of Rs 1.20 billion for the fiscal year 2008-09.
In the last three years, Gulshan has spent Rs 468 million on roads and footpaths, Rs 31.7 million on drains, Rs 198.6 million on sewage lines, Rs 67.9 million for potable water pipelines, Rs 86 million to improve and construct parks and Rs 90.7 million to install and improve streetlights on different roads, he informed while addressing the budget session of the town council. He said that the outsourced system for recovering trade licenses fee have assured 100 percent results and the town has also given contracts to private firms to maintain sanitation in the six union councils. Meanwhile, Malir Acting Nazim Sharafat Ali warned on Wednesday the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) officials to improve the water distribution network or their salaries will not be paid.
