Rawalpindi: Flood protection plan chalked out
The city district administration has given a final shape to a plan, protecting population around Nullah Leh from possible destruction of floods during the monsoon rains.
Sources told this agency here Tuesday that according to the plan, the civil defence department would remain on high alert from June 10 to September 30 during which floods are expected to come. Sources said that four relief centres have been set up for immediate relief in case of floods, while a heavy boat has been shifted to badly affected areas of Nadeem Colony, Aria Mohallah and Javed Colony. Sources quoted District Coordination Officer, Rawalpindi Imdad Ullah as directing the officials of civil defence to start the rehearsal of evacuating affectees during floods next week while the concerned unit of Pakistan Army would remain alert during the possible time of floods. http://www.thenews.com.pk/daily_detail.asp?id=182300 |
